Overview
Anther is a brand identity for a seed archive that does not exist. Strategy, mark, colour, type, packaging, signage, editorial and print are set out as twenty plates in one system.
Challenge
A seed bank makes a promise to people nobody in the building will meet. The identity had to feel careful and long-lived without turning into a museum label, and it had to hold across surfaces as different as a seed packet and a sign read from four metres away.
Solution
The idea is held, not stored. The mark is a seal, made to be broken when the seed is used. The palette is quiet except for one green, the only colour allowed to mean alive. Every colour was computed in OKLCH and every text pairing checked for contrast before it reached a plate.
Process
- 01
Strategy
Wrote the idea and the rules first, so every plate had something to answer to.
- 02
Foundation
Built the mark geometry and the palette in Python as the single source of truth.
- 03
Plates
Composed twenty plates in HTML from that foundation, so one change moves every plate.
- 04
Production
Rendered the plates to PDF and high-resolution captures with Puppeteer.

The live build
One HTML file that runs in the browser with nothing to install. Its typefaces load from the web, so it needs a connection to look as designed.
Tools used
- HTML & CSS
- SVG
- Python
- Puppeteer
Outcomes
- Twenty plates covering strategy, identity, packaging, signage, editorial and digital use.
- Mark and palette generated from code, so the plates cannot drift apart.
- A print-ready PDF alongside the HTML master.
This is a self-initiated concept. The outcomes describe what was made and measured, not results for a client.
