Partnership
Proposal2027

The University of Melbourne

Each year MESS gives ambitious mechanical and mechatronics engineers the skills, the industry connection and the community to launch a career. Sponsorship is what makes that possible.

A word from the President

Welcome to a
strategic partnership.

Thank you for your interest in the Mechanical Engineering Student Society at the University of Melbourne. Each year, MESS empowers ambitious Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering students to explore their passion for engineering, gain technical and employability skills, understand career progressions, and form lasting connections with their peers and industry.

We are a club with a culture of inclusiveness and innovation, and we strive to create engaging events that enrich the engineering student experience — guiding students as they begin their educational journey and prepare for a career in engineering-related sectors, and bringing them the latest industry opportunities and information.

Sponsorship is a crucial part of enabling us to run these meaningful events. We are incredibly grateful for our partners, and we would sincerely love for you to join us in bringing our vision to life.

Who we are

A society built for mechanical
and mechatronics engineering.

We are a student society dedicated to furthering the social and professional interests of mechanical and mechatronics engineering students — the chance to network, explore industry and academic career paths, develop technical skills through workshops and projects, and engage with industry through professional events.

Our aims
1

Open final-year projects to earlier-year mechanical engineering students, and help them get involved.

2

Encourage closer interaction and feedback between staff and students within the discipline.

3

Facilitate mechanical engineering industry interaction and networking opportunities.

4

Provide free and affordable lunches and drinks, timetabled around mechanical engineering classes.

5

Bring it together — a more unified environment for mechanical engineering, and real support among students.

The representative body for all mechanical and mechatronics engineering undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University of Melbourne.

Behind us

Events our partners have
already been part of.

Industry events

Industry Connect in 2024 and 2025 gave our partners strong promotional exposure, while giving members invaluable networking and industry experience.

Technical workshops

Our 2025 Introduction to CAD workshop built essential software and design skills for the mechanical and mechatronic engineers coming through MESS.

Social & faculty

Weekly coffee chats with Mechanical Engineering professors and faculty, the ‘Pint with Professors’ series, and the Faculty of Engineering & IT Ball connect students, academics and industry partners.

The value

Four ways a partnership
works for your firm.

01

Brand exposure

As the representative body for all mechanical and mechatronics engineering students, our club socials and biweekly newsletter reach over 700 engineering students — targeted, relevant exposure across the whole discipline.

02

Access to top-tier graduates

Ranked #1 in Australia and #41 globally for engineering and technology (QS 2025), the University of Melbourne draws high-achieving students. Through MESS, partners reach a pool actively seeking internships and graduate roles.

03

Advertising & marketing

Send us an opportunity and we feature it that same week — tailored social posts and a dedicated newsletter section built to maximise reach in the discipline.

04

Involvement in MESS events

Partners are invited to our industry events, including the annual flagship Industry Connect. Platinum partners can host their own customised event, with full support from our team.

Beyond the tiers

Two more ways to work together.

Project sponsor

Back a student-led team

Support the launch of an upcoming student-led project team and have your brand featured directly on their work — through engravings, displays, or naming opportunities.

Catering sponsor

Feed the room

Provide food and beverages at our events in exchange for brand promotion across signage and event media. A strong fit for restaurants and food businesses building visibility on campus.

Join us as a partner.

We would love to talk through which level fits your goals for 2027 — and to build something together.
